I started my writing career writing commercials, then personal essays about suicide and grief, then picture books about love. So, my keynotes are perfect everywhere from ad agencies to kindergartens. They’re empowering. Real. And fun.
For the teens
Teens have the best stories full of emotion. I love coming to a high school classroom and creating a safe space where teens can workshop their true stories and talk, write, and read about the real stuff weighing on their minds. I often do a 6-week series during one period with take-home assignments. Or I can bring juicy writing prompts to a 3-hour workshop. We can create a book of work all together in a bound keepsake.
For the adults
Teachers. Writers. Creatives. People who need encouragement or want to let go of their own stories. My keynotes detail alllll my failures before my first book deal. Or I take the audience on a journey to learn why our stories are so important and how talking about them eradicates shame. With participation, humor, and some honest truth, the crowd leaves with a new sense of creativity and reverence for who they are.
